I
grew to appreciate the importance of community involvement
and making a positive difference in people’s lives
after I graduated from Boston College in 1999 and did a
year of volunteer service. I moved to Seattle as a Jesuit Volunteer
and served at a housing facility for formerly homeless elderly men.
There, I worked as a case manager and social coordinator
to help the men rehabilitate their lives.
Since my West Coast experience, I’ve worked closer
to home as a job coach in Brookline, assisting people with
mental illnesses find work in the community and providing
ongoing training. I currently work at Boston College in
communications and marketing where I specialize in writing,
editing, and project management. At BC, I’m also pursuing
a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science
in Accounting. As a town councilor, I’ll bring to
bear my range of skills—interpersonal, marketing,
leadership, and analytical—to help Watertown become
a better community.
A writer, musician, and outdoorsman, I value the
significance of art and nature in my own life, and believe
that they have positive effects on society.
